winsxs folder cleanup old nvidia drivers windows 7 64 bit

I know that it ALWAYS does this Code 43 crap because when I reboot from a new driver install-I get weird lines on my boot screen, little dashed white ones. I am now getting this Code 43 from Device manager saying that my Nvidia 8600m GS is reporting problems and has been stopped- this error seems to display no matter what driver I install. etc) And I find that driver to be VERY unstable- stop BSODS at the start.

Am I supposed to stick with one series? is there a certain driver that is going to give me the best all around performance (from laptopvideo2go)? Believe me, I have tried a driver (158.45) that people use with very very very similar laptops to mine (same brand. I now have COD4 to play and I was using 174.31 drivers- recieving the nvlddmkm.sys tdr and bsods after about 10 minutes of play (atleast it displayed the same symptoms as before.) I claimed that it was a driver problem (or heat related) so I attempted to update my drivers with a newer version using your method Jen and no dice (174.74 i believe is what I tried).
